120 Locally Stranded Individuals from Luzon has been successfully repatriated by the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the Balik Lanorte Program of Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo and was fetched at Labo Domestic Airport of Ozamiz City by the members of the Incident Management Team, where 2 of the 120 LSIs are from Ozamiz City and Zamboanga Sibugay who availed of the said program.
Governor Angging warmly welcomes the 118 returning residents at the front of Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center, Pigcaragan, Tubod, on July 12, 2020, and was happy to see them in person who arrived safely in the province through a Sweeper Flight via Philippine Airlines organized and sponsored by the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte with the help of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The day before their scheduled flight, these 120 LSIs went through the mandatory rapid test facilitated by the Philippine Army at the Gymnasium of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Fort Bonifacio and provided accommodation to stay for the night and shuttled them on the next day to the domestic airport for the flight.
Right after Governor Angging thanked them for their patience and trust in the Provincial Government, the LSI was then taken by the Local Government Units of Linamon, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lala, Baroy, Tubod, Kolambugan, Maigo, Kapatagan, Balo-i, Sapad, and Bacolod, to undergo the 14-day quarantine period in their respective Municipal or Barangay Quarantine Facilities for their own safety and the community. Also, the Members of the Incident Management Team sprayed disinfectants on their bags and other belongings to ensure that all are clean from COVID-19.
The LSIs expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Governor Angging for creating the Balik Lanorte Program, an initiative that brings hope to stranded residents of Lanao del Norte who wants to return to the province and be with their family once again.
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the sincere leadership of Governor Angging is doing its best to address the concern of the residents, including the LSIs and returning Overseas Filipino Workers who are wanting to come home to their families after months of separation after the implementation of lockdown, especially in Metro Manila due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Governor Angging thanked Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay, the Commanding Officer of the Philippine Army for accommodating the humble request of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the 2nd Mechanized Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Facundo O. Palafox IV, and with the assistance of Col. Alex Musngi, the AFP Operations Officer.
The Provincial Chief Executive also extends her appreciation to the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental and the City Government of Ozamiz for their active cooperation, as well as the Office of Ozamiz CAAP, the Ozamiz City Airport Police, Daima Shipping Lines, Rural Transit Mindanao Incorporated, Philippine Airlines, and the Municipal Governments for the continuous support to the effort of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte.
