Members of the Incident Management Team of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte organized a simple gathering to commemorate the day that the Province of Lanao was separated into two entities, Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte 61 years ago.

A Mass in the Catholic Church of San Isidro Labrador, Municipality of Tubod, was held in the early morning of July 4, to give thanks to the Holy Creator for the guidance and wisdom bestowed to the leaders of the Provincial Government headed by Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, particularly in these challenging times.

Governor Angging in her video message in observance of the founding anniversary expressed her sincerest gratitude to the people of the Province of Lanao del Norte for the continuous understanding and support to the decisions and actions taken in the fight against COVID-19, as well as to the programs, projects, and activities initiated and implemented by the Provincial Government in partnership with the Offices of 1st District Representative, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo, and the father of peace and development, 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo and with the support of the Office of Provincial Administrator Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo, and the Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan chaired by Vice Governor Maria Cristina ‘Cristy’ N. Atay.

The Provincial Chief Executive has also appealed to the people of the province to be proactive in following the standard health protocols established by the Department of Health and the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the safety and security of the community and the family from the pandemic.

Since its foundation, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte annually prepares activities showcasing the unique attributes that the Province of Lanao del Norte and its people possessed and treasured for years, and continue to advance the harmonious coexistence between the Muslims and Christians as a basic foundation in attaining lasting peace and development.

And with the health crisis that the country and the world are facing, the Provincial Government opted not to celebrate instead, the allotted budget for this year’s festivity was realigned to help finance the health programs and other measures to address the increasing demands of the community brought by the pandemic. Governor Angging reminded the residents to never lose hope and remain steadfast and always continue to pray for guidance and protection, especially at this time and it is best to rekindle the Bayanihan Spirit as one people putting an end to the health threat posed by COVID-19.
