The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the sincere leadership of Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo and her determination in bringing home not only the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) but also the Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) from other cities and provinces by utilizing the resources of the provincial government and by actively coordinating with the neighboring Local Government Officials.
On Sunday, June 21, 85 LSIs from Cebu City boarded a Philippine Airline Sweeper flight and landed in Labo Airport of Ozamiz City organized by the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte. Personnel of the Incident Management Team (IMT) were already dispatched in the vicinity to pick up the LSIs and brought them back to the province.
As promised to the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental and the LGU of Ozamiz City, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the IMT has observed all national and local health protocols necessary to protect the welfare and health of the local constituents from the airport to the seaport of the city.
Governor Angging thanked Governor Philip T. Tan of Misamis Occidental and Mayor Sancho Fernando ‘Ando’ F. Oaminal of Ozamiz City, the Local Government Unit of Cebu City, the Bureau of Quarantine of Cebu, the Management of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines in Ozamiz City and Ozamiz Airport Police Station, the Rural Transit Mindanao Inc., Daima Shipping Lines, Philippine Airlines, the Office of the Presidential Assistance for Visayas, and the Office of Senator Bong Go for the unwavering assistance extended to the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte.
The 85 LSIs were immediately brought to the PGLDN Provincial Health Office to undergo rapid testing, a health protocol to ensure that these LSIs are safe and free from COVID-19, and were informed that they will be quarantined in their respective municipalities which they voluntarily submitted, before rejoining their love ones.
Governor Angging appealed to the retuning LSIs for their understanding of the provincial government’s strict implementation of the health protocols and assured them that all these steps are honestly intended to protect not only their safety but also for their family and the community.
The 85 LSIs are residents of the Municipalities of Linamon, Kauswagan, Maigo, Kolambugan, Tubod, Baroy, Lala, Salvador, Kapatagan, and Sultan Naga Dimaporo, and have expressed their appreciation and thanks to the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the active leadership of Governor Angging for creating the Balik Lanorte Program, spearheaded by the Provincial Tourism Office and supported by the Incident Management Team, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza-Dimaporo, the Provincial Administrator and the Deputy Responsible Officer of the IMT.
