Members of the Provincial School Board of the Province of Lanao del Norte assembles for the 1st Meeting of the year to discuss programs that would suit to the current situation in delivering quality education to the learners despite the challenges at hand.

Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, also the Chairperson of the PSB, expressed her appreciation to the effort of the Schools Division Superintendent Edilberto L. Oplenaria and the officers and personnel of the Department of Education – Division of Lanao del Norte for actively responding to the initiative of DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones in preparation to identify and implement the viable modes of learning based on the surveys conducted in the province in line with programs created by the Department of Education in greater consideration of the health crisis faced by the country today.

The Provincial Chief Executive continued to say that the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the Provincial School Board is committed to supporting the programs, projects, and activities of the Department of Education – Division of Lanao del Norte that enhances and improve the education system in the province, including values formation, as well as activities that promote peace and unity at the early age.

One of the challenges that DepEd-LDN is currently working on, that is practical and attainable is the mass production of printed learning materials that will be distributed to all the students in the province considering that a greater number of learners has no access to the internet, cable network and television, and regarding the radio, not all family has owned two or more transistor radio that could be utilized if there are two or more learners in each family. To complement the printed learning materials, DepEd-LDN will provide voice over or animated instruction material in a USB format as a guide to students as they go through each module.

Governor Angging humbly asked SDS Oplenaria to immediately find and purchase the right printing machine that could produce and address the number of printed learning materials before the tentatively scheduled opening of classes on August 24, 2020, and also offered DXNE-FM Radio Station and other media platforms of the Provincial Government.

On the other hand, Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza-Dimaporo, the Provincial Administrator, respectfully suggested to the members of the board to purchase a generator machine instead of a solar-powered device to be installed at DepEd-LDN Office for uninterrupted supply of electricity to the computers. Generators are more practical, easy, and cheap to maintain compared to a solar-powered device. Though the latter is environment friendly, however, it is expensive to operate and maintain. The solar panels are fragile and considering its longevity and sustainability.

SDS Oplenaria thanked Governor Angging and the officials of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte for the active and continuous support extended to the programs, projects, and activities of DepEd-LDN in providing effective and quality education that is also accessible, especially in this trying times.

The meeting was held at Macapagal Training Center, Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center compound, Pigcarangan, Tubod, on June 19, 2020. PIO-LDN
