In preparation before the implementation of the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) on June 1, 2020, and accordance to the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF MEID), the Province of Lanao del Norte through the untiring leadership of Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo humbly called on all the members of the Interfaith Ministries in the province to seek ideas, suggestions and solicit significant inputs which will be considered essential in the crafting of the provincial guidelines, particularly in establishing measures and other health protocols in the conduct of Church services for the safety and welfare of the faithful.

Under the MGCQ, Mass gatherings are allowed including religious, provided that health protocols and other important measures are strictly implemented and observed and followed by the Churchgoers. With this, the Provincial Government organized a dialogue amongst the religious leaders to help contribute ideas as partners to ensure that the safety and health of the people are greatly considered.

Aside from the stringent observation of physical or social distancing which will limit only to 50% of the total capacity of the area and the wearing of face mask, the religious leaders agreed to place footbaths, designate sanitation areas, post signage to remind the faithful, and also disinfect the Church right after each service. Moreover, in compliance with the 50% guideline, religious leaders have also agreed to add more services to accommodate the rest of the Church members.

Governor Angging expressed deep appreciation to the religious leaders who have helped the Provincial Government in many ways to sustain the unity of the people that paves the way in sustaining peace and development in the Province of Lanao del Norte.

The Provincial Chief Executive strongly recognizes the essential role of the religious sectors in the province, and with the current health crisis that the world, the country and the Province of Lanao del Norte is facing, Governor Angging once again sincerely appealed to the religious leaders to help disseminate the right information to their congregation on how to protect themselves against the perilous threat of the Coronavirus Disease 2019, and humbly asked for their continuous prayer and asking the Holy Creator’s divine intervention to put an end to this deadly pandemic.

Honorable Marivic D. Ramos, the Chairperson on the Committee on Culture, Arts & Interfaith Relations, help organized the dialogue together with former Board Member Grecille I. Matalines.

Lyndon G. Calica, the Provincial Information Officer and the Incident Commander of the Incident Management Team was also present at the meeting together with Atty. Mark Christopher A. Babor, the Provincial Legal Officer.

The dialogue was held at the Macapagal Training Center, Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center compound, Pigcaragan, Tubod, on May 29, 2020. PIO-LDN
