Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo welcomes Engr. Anton V. Gimpaya, the DPWH Project Engineer together with the Korean Engineers of the Namkwang Engineering, one of the three joint-venture contractors of the Panguil Bay Bridge Project, during a courtesy call cum meeting at the Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center, Pigcarangan, Tubod, on May 26, 2020.

Governor Angging appreciates the effort of Engr. Gimpaya for bringing-in the Korean Engineers to personally meet and discuss updates of the PBB Project, including the option of placing the equipment directly at the site instead of using the Port of the Municipality of Tubod, as the entry area.

“It is much better to directly bring-in the construction equipment at the site. The roads from the Port of Tubod is narrow, it will give you a hard time in transporting the equipment to the construction site, aside from being risky, it will also endanger the lives and properties of the residents,” the Governor said.

The Provincial Chief Executive humbly shared the story of the Panguil Bay Bridge to the Korean Engineers. It was inspired by the vision of late Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza, who dreamt of building a bridge that will not only physically connect the two Provinces of Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental, but also bridges the gap of cultural differences between the people. Moreover, the PBB Project is considered a major catalytic project of the national government that is envisioned to boost economic growth and sustain development not only for the two provinces but also for the region and the island of Mindanao.

Engr. Gimpaya on the other hand agreed to the sincere request of Governor Angging that is to provide regular updates on the status of the PBB Project, as well as looking into the concerns of the affected landowners. The Governor hopes that these concerns will be settled before the start of the construction.

For Three (3) decades, the dream project is gradually coming to reality, and Governor Angging always thanked President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for making the dream of her father and the people of the two provinces (Lanao del Norte & Misamis Occidental) a reality.

The meeting was held at the Governor’s Conference Room attended by Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member, Honorable Allan J. Lim, Committee Chairman on Engineering, Public Works & Highways; Provincial Engineer Marietta L. Borillo, and Engr. Juliet M. Amas of the Provincial Engineering Office. PIO-LDN
