Undersecretary Rosemarie G. Congressman Khalid and Congressman Abdullah understand the situation that the country is facing and expressed full support to the programs of the National Government against COVID-19 by Realigning and Reprioritization of the FY 2020 Programs, Projects, and Activities, however, the two Lanao del Norte Congressmen appealed to the Council for support in the continuity of the already approved priority projects in the region, such as the Panguil Bay Bridge Project and the Laguindingan Airport Expansion Project, two of the high-impact projects in the region, which NEDA Regional Director and Vice Chairperson of RDC 10, Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño agreed and explained to the rest of the members that the two major projects are included in the Priority Cluster 2: Catalytic Infrastructure & Innovation of RDC 10 Region Specific Guidelines.
Congressman Khalid also seeks support from the Council to consider the resumption of construction projects like road widening, irrigation, and others that need minimal workers only in those areas that are considered moderate or low-risk areas for COVID-19. This is also to take advantage of the low volume of vehicles traversing the national highways in the region due to the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine or the General Community Quarantine after April 30.
The Special RDC 10 Full Council Meeting was chaired by Governor Philip T. Tan of Misamis Occidental, the RDC 10 Chairperson on April 27, 2020, and called on everyone to remain united and continue to work as one, especially in this difficult time. PIO-LDN
