Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office headed by Provincial Director PCOL Rene P Solidarios humbly requested a meeting with Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Bureau of Fire and Protection, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Highway Patrol Group, the Land Transportation Office, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government to discuss issues and concerns relating to the current measures being imposed in the province to flatten the curve on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Governor Angging has recently announced the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the Province of Lanao del Norte following the pronouncement of the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to extend the Luzon-wide ECQ.

The Provincial Chief Executive has seen the need to extend the ECQ as more and more residents are becoming complacent to the situation and are ignoring the call of the government to stay at home and not following the order to wear a face mask when going out to public places.

Provincial Director Solidarios took note of the request of Governor Angging to order the Chief of Police in the municipalities to let its personnel roam around in their respective areas of responsibilities and if needed apprehend those individuals or groups who are found violating the ECQ.

Governor Angging expressed that if we want to help the national government, especially President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and protect the residents of Lanao del Norte, we must firmly enforce the necessary measures to prevent the spread or stop the transmission of the Coronavirus in the communities by imposing the provisions stated in Executive Order 06, Series of 2020, the Guidelines on the Declaration of an Enhanced Community Quarantine, and Executive Order 07, Series of 2020, the Mandatory Wearing of Face Mask of all persons, residents, and non-residents, especially in the public. In addition, the Governor urged the PNP with the help of the AFP to strengthen the boundaries by monitoring and checking those who are coming into the province for the safety and security of the residents.

Lanao del Norte and the entire Region of Northern Mindanao is still under Code Red as declared by the Department of Health Region 10, until then, the Enhanced Community Quarantine in the province will continue.

Governor Angging before the adjournment of the meeting called on all agencies present to work together to win the fight against COVID-19, and thanked PD Solidarios for initiating the meeting, as well as the AFP represented by LTCOL Rolando D Orengo, Commander of the 5th Mechanized Battalion; FSupt Richie Fabre, BFP-LDN; PO3 Don Czar D Galorio; PCapt Omar M Tago, HPG-LDN; Malic A. Sultan, LTO-Tubod; and Ms. Mary Jean Y. Quibranza, DILG-LDN.

IMT Incident Commander and the Provincial Information Officer, Lyndon G. Calica, and the Deputy Incident Commander, Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Terese M. Reponte was also present at the meeting together with Atty. Mark Christopher A. Babor, the Provincial Legal Officer.

The meeting was held at the Governor’s Conference Room, Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center, Pigcarangan, Tubod, on April 16, 2020. PIO-LDN
