On Monday, March 2, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Ms. Annabelle S. Mendez, formally begins the 2020 National Women’s Month Celebration in the province with the theme, “We Make Change Work for Women” during the weekly convocation ceremony for the employees of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte held in front of Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center, Pigcarangan, Tubod.
Ms.Mendez provided updates of their office including upcoming activities in line with the celebration. PSWDO continuously conducts supplemental feeding to all 558 Child Development Centers in the province. The office also has increased the number of Women’s Organization in the province from 16 to 19 and helped organized four (4) Women Entrepreneurs from the Municipalities of Kolambugan, Linamon, Lala, and Kauswagan.
last January 28, Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo led the distribution of wheelchairs and other restorative devices to Persons with Disabilities (PWD) at the Provincial Capitol spearheaded by the PSWDO and have also organized Fourteen (14) PWD Associations within Lanao del Norte.
Ms. Mendez was also proud to inform the PGLDN employees that there are now 16 Empowered Associations of Senior Citizens, and have asked for help to disseminate information regarding the Social Pension that they are only available to indigent Senior Citizens who do not receive any pension from the Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), or other pensions received including from their children or relatives.
The yearly Educational Assistance through the initiative of Governor Angging to provide financial assistance to less fortunate but deserving students from Grade 7 to 12 in 6 National High School in the province.
PSWDO have strengthened its relationship with various Non-Governmental Organization, such as Blessed Mother Rosa in the Municipality of Bacolod, Philippine Children Ministry Network, World Vision in the Municipality of Balo-i (Social Protection Program for Children), International Justice Mission focused on Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC), Ranaw Women & Children Resource Center, and on July 24 at Mindanao Civic Center, TEBOW Cure Philippines will provide assessment to children having deformities from 0 to 18 years old for medical operation in Davao City.
Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo congratulated Ms. Mendez and the PSWDO family for actively engaging the communities and implementing programs that greatly benefit the Women and Children, the PWDs, and Senior Citizens as well as the underprivileged but students in the Province of Lanao del Norte.
Sangguniang Panlalawgian Board Member, Honorable Abdul Harris U. Ali, was also in attendance to support the celebration and reiterated the message of Governor Angging to PGLDN employees to serve the constituents of Lanao del Norte with sincerity and care.
