The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, through the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Teresa M. Reponte, organized an orientation for the Department of Health Region 10 to discuss the Universal Health Care Integration for Health Care Providers in the province.
DOH 10 Regional Director Dr. Adriano P. Subaan, leads the team of experts from the health sector of the government to impart relevant information and answer inquiries on Universal Health Care as well as the role of all health care service providers, either public or private sectors in the implementation of the program.
Provincial Administrator, Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo welcomed the speakers from the region and the participants representing the public and private hospitals, stand-alone clinic, and pharmacies as well as the Municipal Health Officers, the Doctors to the Barrio, the Public Health Nurse, and members of Lanao del Norte Medical Society.
“The primary reason why we called this meeting, whether you are involved directly or indirectly, is, for one thing, we want the UHC to succeed in Lanao del Norte,” the Provincial Administrator said.
The Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, and the two Congressional District Representatives, 1st District Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo, and 2nd District Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo are firmly behind DOH for a successful implementation of the UHC in the Province of Lanao del Norte as one of the pilot provinces in the country.
Governor Angging in her message thanked Dr. Subaan for accommodating the invitation of the Provincial Government and to Dr. Francis A. Ramos of Philhealth Regional Office for providing relevant information and answering inquiries from the participants, as well as the owners of private hospitals for giving time to join in the UHC orientation.
Dr. Melania A. Untao, the former PHO head was also recognized by Governor Angging for actively complying with all the requirements requested by Congressman Khalid.
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte since Governor Angging became Governor in 2009, has continuously allocated budget to Philhealth. “We have invested so much in Philhealth since I became the Governor and continued by then-Governor Khalid because we want to take care of our constituents, their health is very important to us,” the Governor humbly expressed.
The Provincial Chief Executive was also happy that all Municipal Health Officers were present in the activity. And as representatives of their respective municipalities, Governor Angging appealed to them not to deprive their constituents of availing health care services because they have a different political stand with the Mayor.
The UHC will not be successful in the province without the support of all concern sectors, especially the private sectors.

Ali, the Chairman Committee on Health, extends his gratitude to Governor Angging for the unselfish effort in making sure that the UHC program will be available to the people of Lanao del Norte and to the two District Congressmen for bringing the voice of the people in the House of Representatives.
Regional Director Dr. Subaan was accompanied by Assistant Regional Director Dr. David Mendoza, Chief of Hospital Dr. Benson Go from the Treatment Rehabilitation Center of Bukidnon, Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) Chief of Hospital Dr. Jose Chan, Regulatory Licensing and Enforcement Division (RLED) Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao (CHD-NM) Dr. Cheryl Balane, Provincial Department of Health Officer Dr. Jovette S. Guinal, Division Chief Edward D. Acta and Jasper Kent M. Ola DOH CHD-NM, and from Philhealth Regional Office 10 Dr. Francis A. Ramos.
