The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office spearheads the distribution of customized wheelchairs and prosthetic legs to 41 Persons with Disabilities from ten (10) municipalities in the province.

Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo leads the distribution held in front of Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center, Pigcarangan, Tubod on January 28, 2020.

The Provincial Chief Executive humbly told the recipients that she is just merely an instrument to help alleviate the lives of the people, particularly those who are in need like the PWDs, and added that the devices will aid them in accomplishing their day to day tasks, either personal or work-related.

The Provincial Government is continuously providing assistance to PWDs through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office supervised by Ms. Annabelle S. Mendez, with the purpose of encouraging PWDs to be active and responsible members of the society despite their infirmities.

Governor Angging annually allocates budget for PWDs in the province through the proposals submitted by PSWDO in coordination with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of the Local Government Units.

Before the distribution, the recipients sang a birthday song to Governor Angging which she was humbly pleased and thanked all of them.

Governor Angging also reminded the PWDs that they too can contribute positive change in their community like observing proper segregation of material wastes such as plastics and other garbage, as well as influence other members of the community.

Florida, mother of prosthetic leg recipient, Christopher Baricuatro, emotionally expressed her gratitude to Governor Angging and to the Quibranza Dimaporo family for giving importance to the PWD Sector. “I have never thought that my son can walk again since his left leg was amputated due to bone cancer. And no exact words can express how happy I am for my son. Thank you Governor Angging, to the Quibranza Dimaporo family, and to Ms. Mendez for including my son in this program. My prayers were answered when Ms. Mendez saw me in the Church carrying my son to receive Holy Communion. Thank you, Governor, and God bless you always.”

According to Ms. Mendez, the distribution of 26 customized wheelchairs and 15 prosthetic legs was made possible through the innate generosity of Governor Angging and always thinking what’s best for her constituents. Aside from the devices, recipients also received cash from the Governor.

The 41 PWDs were assisted by their MSWDOs from the Municipalities of Linamon, Magsaysay, Kauswagan, Lala, Tubod, Kapatagan, Balo-i, Baroy, Maigo, and Bacolod, and by their PWD Federated President Diodie Lota. PIO-LDN
