The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte annually hosts the “PAMASKONG HANDOG SA CAPITOLYO,” the time of the year wherein Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo will personally give grocery items to pre-selected beneficiaries of Barangay Pigcarangan in celebration of the Christmas season.
On December 18, 2019, 100 household heads of Barangay Pigcarangan gathered in front of Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center (Provincial Capitol), Tubod, to receive the gift pack consisting of 10 kilos of rice and 12 cans of tuna.
Governor Angging speaking in a local dialect said that the Pamaskong Handog sa Capitolyo is a yearly tradition of the Provincial Government in giving thanks to the people of Barangay Pigcarangan, the home of the Provincial Capitol.
Through the felt kindness and generosity, the beneficiaries in return serenaded the Governor by singing “Kasadya” a Bisayan Christmas song and further expressed their gratitude when Ms. Angelita Canubas, speaking on behalf of the recipients, conveyed in her words how grateful they are, residents of Barangay Pigcarangan aside from being neighbors of the Provincial Capitol, the unselfish deeds of Governor Angging in continuously finding ways to initiate and implement programs, projects, and activities that will help improve the lives not only of the residents of Barangay Pigcarangan but also to the entire Province of Lanao del Norte.
Children who accompanied their parents also received toys from Governor Angging, who made a short stop in one of the stores before going to the Provincial Capitol to buy gifts for them, along with food pack bought from a famous fast-food chain in the country.
Before ending her message, Governor Angging informed this year’s recipients that next year, those indigent residents of Barangay Pigcarangan who have not received a coupon will be given the priority. The selection of beneficiaries was in coordination between the officials of Barangay Pigcarangan and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office under the supervision of Ms. Annabelle S. Mendez.
The activity was later on joined by the Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Governor Maria Cristina ‘Cristy’ N. Atay. PIO-LDN
