Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, and the Father of Peace and Development, 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo, together with the local elected officials and the people of the Province of Lanao del Norte warmly welcomes the delegations from the provinces and cities of Region 10 for the 2019 Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association Meet held at the Grandstand of the Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex, Sagadan, Tubod on December 8, 2019.

The Provincial Government and the Department of Education – Division of Lanao del Norte successfully organized the opening ceremony where thousands of students from the Lanao del Norte National Comprehensive High School performed a Mass Demonstration to welcome the athletes representing the Schools Divisions of the provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental, and the cities of Gingoog, Cagayan de Oro, Valencia, Malaybalay, El Salvador, Iligan, Ozamis, Oroquieta, and Tangub.

Governor Angging sincerely expressed her gratitude to Department of Education 10 headed by Regional Director, Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot and the Schools Division Superintendents of the Northern Mindanao for granting Lanao del Norte to host this year’s regional meet, and recognized the effort of former SDS Roy Angelo S. Gazo in helping the Province of Lanao del Norte win the bid, as well as to SDS Edilberto L. Oplenaria, the new Division Chief, for the preparations and commitment.

“Let me thank the officers and personnel of the Department of Education, Regional Director, Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, and the Schools Division Superintendents of the 13 Schools Divisions, for the trust and confidence in us. To former SDS Roy Angelo S. Gazo for your determination and hard work to host the 2019 NMRAA, and to our new SDS Edilberto L. Oplenaria – thank you sir for the preparations and your commitment. To the DepEd-Lanao del Norte family this is the day that we have waited for. Thank you for convincing other schools division in the region, and for believing that we can make this happen. The preparations you’ve made, your hard work, and personal sacrifices are deeply appreciated.”

Regional Director, Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, on behalf of the Department of Education Region 10 thanked Governor Angging and the two Congressional District Representatives, 1st District Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo, and 2nd District Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo, Vice-Governor Maria Cristina N. Atay and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the Municipal Mayors, and the people of Lanao del Norte who have worked tirelessly in the preparations and the hospitality extended to the delegations.

Aside from the preparations made both by the Provincial Government and the LDN-Schools Division, RD Bayocot was also amazed of how world-class is the MCC Sports Complex, and was convinced that Lanao del Norte is capable of hosting the Palarong Pambansa and should bid to host when the National Games returns to Mindanao.

Department of Education Assistant Secretary, Atty. Salvador C. Manala III, on behalf of Honorable Secretary Leonor M. Briones, appreciates and recognizes the commitment of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte to support the dream of the young athletes of Northern Mindanao and urged all local government units, and other stakeholders to do the same. And added that, the young athletes participating in this year’s NMRAA representing their respective provinces and cities are also the future leaders of the region and the country, and it is wise to invest for their future through sports.

The Father of Peace and Development, 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo was happy to see the young athletes all over the region that have gathered in Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex, that is not only a world-class sports facility but also the symbol of unity between the Muslims and Christians in the Province of Lanao del Norte.

In the House of Representatives, 1st District Congressman Khalid and 2nd District Congressman Abdullah are strong believers of how important quality education is in shaping the character and attitude of young Filipinos, and that principle alone has driven them to continuously support the approval of the annual budget of the Department of Education. Education does not only involved reading and learning the subjects but also help mould the character and attitude of the future leaders of the country, and sports is an integral part of it.

Before the grandiose fireworks display to conclude the opening ceremony, Governor Angging, Congressman Abdullah, Assistant Secretary Manala III, Regional Director Bayocot and SDS Oplenario simultaneously released the doves, a symbol of purity and peace. PIO-LDN
