November 14, 2019. The Office Civil Defence Region 10 picked the Province of Lanao del Norte as the pilot area to conduct the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill and Tsunami Drill which was held at Mindanao State University – Lanao del Norte Agricultural College (MSU-LNAC) in Sultan Naga Dimaporo.
The activity seeks to increase awareness and provide adequate information for preparation as well as responding to a natural or manmade disaster.
Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo made time despite her hectic schedule to personally observe the conduct of the drill that is to be taken seriously and acknowledged the importance of this activity for the people of Sultan Naga Dimaporo that was hit by a tsunami in 1976.
2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo was also present at the venue along with Municipal Mayor Motalib M. Dimaporo MSU-LNAC Superintendent Dr. Indhira B. Dimaporo-Tawantawan.
OCD 10 Regional Director and Director of Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Rosario Arnel Q. Gonzales Jr. was pleased to see how the emergency responders and participants reacted and handled the situation like in an actual scenario.
The drill was actively participated by personnel from the Municipality’s Philippine National Police, Rural Health Unit, Bureau of Fire and Protection, and by from Philippines Red Cross, Philippine Coast Guard, AFP’s 51st Mechanical Infantry Battalion together with emergency responders from the municipalities of Kapatagan, Baroy, Sapad, Tubod, Kolambugan, Bacolod, Matungao, Tangkal, and Sultan Naga Dimaporo including the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) of Barangay La Libertad of Kapatagan and personnel from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
