The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the Provincial Agriculturist Office headed by Ms. Letecia G. Ditucalan in coordination with the Municipal Government of Lala under the administration of Honorable Angel L. Yap, the Municipal Mayor, spearheaded the distribution of the Carrageenan Plant Growth Promoter Technology for Rice at the Municipal Gymnasium on October 10, 2019.

Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo personally attends the distribution and encouraged rice farmers to practice organic farming by restraining the use of fertilizers that are harmful to health.

In two days a total of 1,880 rice farmers from the barangays of Simpac, Abaga, Tenazas, El Salvador, Pinuyak, Rebe, Lanipao, and Maranding will receive the Carrageenan PGP, an extract from red edible seaweeds and degraded through irradiation that enhances growth and prevents disease and pests in rice. A research project conducted by the National Crop Protection Center, College of Agriculture, UP Los Baños in partnership with PNRI and PhilRice.

The Provincial Chief Executive thanked 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo for pushing the Department of Agriculture to include the rice farmers of the Province of Lanao del Norte in the grant which was originally intended only to rice farmers of Luzon and Visayas.

Congressman Abdullah and Congressman Khalid are doing their best in the House of Representatives by continuously finding ways to include the Province of Lanao del Norte in all the programs and projects of the different National Government Agencies, particularly in agriculture and fisheries.

Municipal Mayor Angel L. Yap expressed his sincerest gratitude to Governor Angging and to Congressman Abdullah for never ceasing to include the Municipality of Lala to all programs and projects that best serve the interest of the people, especially the farmers.

Provincial Agriculturist, Ms. Ditucalan, reminds rice farmers to strictly observe in following the instructions found in the leaflet and when in doubt the Provincial Agriculturist Office is ready to provide assistance through Rodolfo P. Aranzado, the Provincial Rice Program Coordinator.

The distribution will resume tomorrow, October 11, 2019 for the rice farmers of Simpac, Abaga, Tenazas, and Lanipao. PIO-LDN
