Lanorte Tourism Skills Olympics was organized by the Provincial Tourism Office on September 27, 2019, inside the Gymnasium of Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex, Sagadan, Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Themed, “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All” showcases the skills of Senior High School students enrolled in TESDA/CHED Registered Hotel & Restaurant Services in Cake Decoration, Flower Arrangement, Fruit & Vegetable Carving, Table Skirting, Table Setting, and Mocktails. Poster Making and Beef Rendang Cooking contest were also included in the event.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member, Honorable Acmad Taha on behalf of Provincial Administrator, Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibanza Dimaporo (who attended an equally important meeting) welcomed the participating students representing the different schools in Lanao del Norte.

BM Taha, Chairman on Tourism, encouraged the students to continue equipping themselves by learning the necessary skills in Hotel & Restaurant Services which is in demand here in the country and abroad. And for Lanao del Norte, such skills are needed to provide services for tourists visiting the province.

Ms. Alerma Grace E. Yorong, Head of the Provincial Tourism Office, discussed the overview of the competition and presented the Board of Judges to the competitors and to the audience.

The Office also arranged a Job Fair at the venue which was actively participated by Rural Transit Mindanao, Inc. and Benchstone Enterprises, Inc. To which, 16 applicants were hired on the spot, 1 for RTMI and 15 by BEI for abroad as service crews.

Vice Governor Maria Cristina N. Atay thanked Ms. Charlita C. Ladera, representing Regional Director Marie Elaine C. Unchuan, Department of Tourism Region 10, and the participants for joining the activity which marks the culmination of the Tourism Month 2019, and assures that the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte headed by Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo will do its best to provide more trainings and seminars to the residents who are engaged in tourism industry through the Provincial Tourism Office in coordination and partnership of the Department of Tourism Region 10.

In line with the celebration, other activities were organized such as the Three (3) Year Tourism Development Planning Workshop from September 24 to 25. Ms. Eugenie P. Pusing, PHRMDO Head and Ms. Annanette S. Daniel, Provincial Population Office head were the two keynote speakers in the workshop. And on September 26, Professor Manny C. Cabido of MSU-IIT together with Mr. Elmer Gooc and Mr. Juvel Ompoc conducted Mountaineers Orientation and helped organized a mountaineering club in the province. Both activities were held successively at Macapagal Training Center, Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center Complex, Pigcarangan, Tubod.

Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo, the Provincial Administrator, made time to attend the Mountaineers Orientation despite her hectic schedule and expressed support to the activity. PIO-LDN
