The 28th Mindanao Business Conference themed, “Mindanao: The Emerging Investment Destination” gathers business leaders, government officials, stakeholders, and key players to discuss innovative approach and share relevant information in enhancing the economy of Mindanao held at the Gymnasium of Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Iligan City from September 12 to 14, 2019.

On September 13, Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo expressed her gratitude to Ms. Maria Alegria S. Limjoco, President of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Board of Directors for choosing the City of Iligan to host this year’s MinBizCon.

The Provincial Chief Executive recognized the important role of the business sectors in nation-building by working side by side with the national government through its various national line agencies in supporting and implementing programs, projects, and activities, particularly in answering the aspirations of Mindanaoans in achieving long-lasting peace, create viable livelihood programs, and infrastructure projects that do not only improve regional and national connectivity, but above all bridging cultural differences and bringing Filipino families closer.

In Lanao del Norte, the diverse culture has inspired the people to sustain the unity and peace which drives the province towards development and prosperity.

Governor Angging as well mentioned the essential contribution of the international communities in providing aid, either financial or in a technical form in improving the lives of Mindanaoans. One of these international friends is the United States of America, who is our long-time ally and partner in development and peacebuilding initiatives.

“I am confident that with the programs of the national government, and the continuous support of the country’s business sectors and our international friends will further advance and strengthens Mindanao’s economy. And as member of BIMP-EAGA (Brunie Darussalam Indonesia Malaysia Philippines – East Asia Growth Area), Mindanao will greatly benefit from this co-operation initiative, which aims to increase trade, tourism, and investment by facilitating the free movement of people, goods and services,” and added, “It is time for us Mindanaoans to prove to the world that we are ready and capable of making the land of promise, a major business destination. Under the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and with his support, let us make things happen by committing ourselves to contribute positively in building a better and brighter tomorrow for the people of Mindanao and the country.”

The presence of Deputy Chief of Mission, Honorable John Law of the US Embassy, indicates the firm commitment of the United States of America in providing necessary assistance to the Republic of the Philippines in improving the Filipinos quality of life.

Before concluding her message, Governor Angging expressed her congratulations to the City Government of Iligan headed by Mayor Celso G. Regencia and Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz and the honorable members of the Sangguniang Panglungsod, and to the President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan, Inc., Ms. Reggie Punongbayan and the officers and members for actively hosting the 28th Mindanao Business Conference.
