In pursuant to Republic Act 9003, otherwise known as “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000,” the Municipality of Pantar headed by Honorable Mayor Jabar D. Tago organized the ESWM Summit at the Municipal Hall in partnership with the Provincial Government through the Environment and Natural Resources Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Armed Forces of the Philippines through the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade and 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Department of Education, and Association of Barangay Captains on August 5, 2019.

Mayor Tago welcomes Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo and expressed his gratitude to the Provincial Chief Executive for gracing the activity and personally introduced the members of the Sangguniang Bayan chaired by Vice Mayor Casim Abubacar and the Association of Barangay Captains led by President Abdul Racman Gumpal.

Governor Angging conveyed her appreciation to the Local Chief Executive and the SB Members for the warm reception and for the invitation to join this significant and challenging activity of the administration of Mayor Tago.

“I personally thank your Municipal Mayor, Honorable Jabar D. Tago for welcoming me in your Municipality and be part of this important endeavor for the betterment of the people of Pantar and the Province of Lanao del Norte, especially to our children and the next generation…I believe that Mayor Tago has the political will to bring change in your municipality. Being a proactive leader, Pantar will attain more. But all of his efforts will not be successful without your commitment to support. We in the Provincial Government are always ready to extend a hand as your partner for attaining sustainable peace and development together with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and Armed Forces of the Philippines.”

The Provincial Governor emphasized the important role of the Department of Education in teaching the students about the importance of waste segregation and proper disposal. “School children spend more time with you (teachers) than with us. I hope that you can impart to them the essence of RA 9003. These children are our future and we need them to be responsible as early as now. Discipline is the key and we must not cease to teach them the correct values and right conduct. For sure when all of these are in place, the programs of the government will easily be implemented.”

Before the start of the summit, Governor Angging joins the raising of the Philippine and ASEAN Flags and planted Golden Trumpet Trees at the grounds of the Municipal Hall of Pantar.

Also present at the summit are DILG Provincial Director, Bruce A. Colao; Brigadier General James Ezra P Enriquez, Commander of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade; LTC Bernardo A Taqueban, Battalion Commander of the 4th Mechanized Battalion; PS1 Recto B. Iwangan, Chief of Police; ENRO Officer, Ramon Serapio with Niño Desierto, ENR Specialist I, and Ms. Dovee Cherry Geollegue, Chief-Solid Waste Management of Local Government Unit-Region. PIO-LDN
