The Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council, both chaired by Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo conducted a meeting together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Municipal Mayors and other council members with the Department of the Interior and Local Government through Provincial Director Bruce A. Colao, acting as Secretariat held at Rianas Restaurant in Mindanao Civic Center, Sagadan, Municipality of Tubod on May 2, 2019.
The Philippine National Police presented the situational report of its accomplishments against Illegal Drugs and other related operations in support of President Duterte’s campaign. While, the Armed Forces of the Philippines through Lt Col Tertuliano L. Pinggal, Jr. GSC (CAV) PA on behalf of Brigadier General Ezra James P. Enriquez, Battalion Commander of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, presented the troop’s deployment in the province under Task Force Piniliay in preparation for the upcoming 2019 National and Local Elections on May 13, 2019.
Governor Angging appealed to the PNP and the AFP to intensify its security operations, especially in the Municipalities of Munai, Nunungan, Salvador, Pantar and Tagoloan identified as election hotspots during the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) in Cagayan de Oro City.
Moreover, the Provincial Chief Executive and Chairman of PPOC calls on the PNP and AFP to help ensure a peaceful and honest election in the province and guarantee the safety of the voting populace on election day.
2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo attended the meeting upon the invitation of the Chairman and expressed his concern with regards to the effectiveness of some PNP Officials assigned in the municipalities that were identified as election hotspots.
One of the resolutions suggested and approved during the meeting was to require the PNP of Lanao del Norte to submit a consolidated report of the number of political killings and the results of the investigation conducted including the murder of Dr. Dreyfus Perlas.
While 1st District Representative, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo uttered his concerns such as the clear territorial definition or geographical location of Camp Bilal in Lanao del Norte; The resolution of cases of persons charged with or convicted of crimes and offenses connected to the armed conflicts in Mindanao; The transformation of MILF communities and identify programs for sustainable livelihood in these communities and other concerns that affects the province in relation to Executive Order No. 79 (Implementing the Annex on Normalization under the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro).
With regards to the readiness of the Commission on Elections, newly assigned Provincial Election Supervisor, Atty. Stalin A. Baguio stated that COMELEC is already 95% ready. Teachers acting as members of Board of Election Inspectors have already undergone the necessary training including the technical support.
