The Provincial Veterinary Office of Lanao del Norte headed by Dr. Fritzie P. Provido is sustaining the program of the provincial government by regularly conducting massive dog vaccination and information and education campaign to dog owners of the province. PVO aims to promote animal welfare and eradicate rabies by year 2020 in support to the nation’s goal of achieving Rabies-Free Philippines.

On March 16, 2019, the Provincial Veterinary Office organized the “3rd Provincial Dog Show” to highlight the celebration of the Rabies Awareness Month held at Tubod People’s Park, Municipality of Tubod. Executive Order No. 84, series of 1999 declares the month of March every year as Rabies Awareness Month. And, every 28th of September is the World Rabies Day. The annual activity will help raise awareness to the public of the deadly effect of the rabies virus to humans and the proper prevention and management.

Dr. Provido discussed to the public, especially the participating pet owners of the relevance of RA 9482 or otherwise known as the “Anti-Rabies Act of 2007” and provided updates of the prevention and programs conducted by her office.
