Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo and 1st District Representative, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo officially commenced the construction of 11.9 MW Liangan Hydroelectric Power Plant Project together with Municipal Mayor Joselito E. Miquiabas and officials of Liangan Power Corporation headed by President and CEO Josue A. Lapitan; Director Mario Marasigan, Electric Power Industry Management Bureau of the Department of Energy; representatives of Guangxi Hydroelectric Construction Bureau, officials of Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Honorable Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawiagan and Sangguniang Bayan and other stakeholders in a ceremony at Barangay Pagayawan in the Municipality of Bacolod, Province of Lanao del Norte on November 6, 2018.
Congressman Khalid expressed his appreciation by acknowledging the effort of former Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member Val Zamora for his persistence in creating a Hydroelectric Power Plant in the Municipality of Bacolod. The young Solon who was the Governor at that time sees the need to have a power plant in the province to feed in the future the increasing demand of electricity. To make it a reality without impairing the services of the Provincial Government, it needs to find a company that will invest a multimillion hydroelectric power plant in Lanao del Norte.

The effective implementation of the Development Program of Lanao del Norte for Vision 2020 through the good governance of the Quibranza-Dimaporo with the unwavering support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and through the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), access roads were concreted connecting the Municipalities of Linamon, Matungao, Balo-i and Tagoloan, same with the Municipality of Kauswagan linking the Municipality of Munai and on the side of Bacolod, Esperanza to Munai-Madalum road.

The concreted road in Bacolod to Munai made it advantageous for the Provincial Government to convince the officials of Liangan Power Corporation to ink the deal, and the company is no stranger to Muslim culture. “Liangan’s business background is coming from a Muslim community, they are familiar with our place and already accustomed to our culture,” Congressman Khalid said.

Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo was happy to express her sentiments that for three decades it is finally settled that the construction of Liangan Hydroelectric Power Plant marks the dawn of a new era of the province towards industrialization and the realization of the vision of former Governor Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo now 2nd District Representative, as well as the upcoming groundbreaking of Panguil Bay Bridge in which the late Provincial Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza envisioned linking the two provinces of Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental.

The Provincial Chief Executive added that LPC will not only generate affordable electricity but as well provide local employment and livelihood to residents of the community and to the province. The unity and harmonious relationship of the people of the Province of Lanao del Norte is one of the factors that motivates LPC to invest that will help propel the steady growth of the local economy.
