The month-long nationwide commemoration of Cooperative Month for 2018 brought all Cooperatives together that strengthens its organizations as well as building strong ties amongst each other and contributes to the improvement of the community.

In the Province of Lanao del Norte, the Provincial Cooperative Office kicked-off the celebration in an activity that clearly expresses its concern in the protection and preservation of the environment. On October 10, the head of PCO, Ms. Minda Regis, actively led a Mangrove Tree Planting in the shores of the Municipality of Sultan Naga Dimaporo where Mayor Ulwan Dimaporo thanked the Provincial Government, participating Cooperatives for choosing his municipality for the momentous activity in partnership with the Philippine Coast Guard and Auxiliary.

On October 16, A Mass Feeding and Community Service were organized in Kiddie School Incorporated – United Church of Christ in the Philippines and at Tubod District Jail, both in the Municipality of Tubod. And three days after, A Producer’s Cooperatives Forum was held in Macapagal Training Center in Pigcarangan.

The day prior to the culmination, Cooperatives from Lanao del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Misamis Occidental flocked at the Grandstand of the Sports Complex of Mindanao Civic Center for the 2018 Cooperative Ugnayan Sports Event. This is an annual event organized by the Cooperatives of these provinces to make stronger the relationship through sports, and this time the Province of Lanao del Norte is the host for the said event.

Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo welcomed all members of the Cooperatives from Lanao del Norte, especially those from Zamboanga del Sur and Misamis Occidental who have come to join the culmination of the month-long celebration.

The Provincial Chief Executive extends her warmest recognition of the Cooperative’s contribution as partners in Building Resilient and Empowered Communities in Achieving a Better and Stronger Republic, and its role in eradicating local poverty by encouraging people to join and to fulfil its primary objective that is to improve the quality of life of its members.

The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte together with the initiatives of the Offices of 1st District Representative, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo and 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo and the support of Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperatives and Agriculture, Honorable Board Member Reinario Bihag in partnership with the Cooperative Development Authority-Region 10 and Non-Governmental Organizations continuously finding ways to help alleviate the lives of the constituents by encouraging to form and organize associations in the community to become Cooperatives.
