Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo and 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo joins the culmination program of the Filipino Elderly Week with the theme: Kilalanin at Pangaralan: “Tagasulong ng Karapatan ng Nakatatanda Tungo sa Lipunang Mapagkalinga,” organized through the effort of Ms. Annabelle S. Mendez, Head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office with the assistance of the Regional Office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development 10 on October 25, 2018 in Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium, Sagadan, Municipality of Tubod.
Governor Angging warmly expressed her greetings to the elders of the province who have come to join the culmination which signifies the unity of the people of the province. While, Congressman Bobby thanked the Senior Citizens for their contributions in attaining what the people of Lanao del Norte are enjoying today, the steady growth of progress and development due to the unity and harmonious relationship of Muslim and Christian residents for the betterment of the future generation in the “The Land of Beauty and Bounty.”
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte has always been and will always be giving importance to the elders of the province by working closely with various national government agencies, such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Health Insurance (Philhealth), and the Department of Health (DOH) in providing the privilege to avail what is beneficial to them.
Ms. Daisy Ramos, DSWD 10 Regional Focal Person spoke in front of the elders with regards to the programs of the department like the Unconditional Trust Fund that can now be availed by all Senior Citizens. Mr. Jess Sobrepeña representing Philhealth, discussed the issues and concerns, as well as the benefits of elders who are bona fide members of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs of their Municipality.
The highlight of the program is the dance contest participated by Senior Citizens of the twelve (12) Municipalities of Lanao del Norte who have organized their own Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA): Kolambugan, Baroy, Kapatagan, Bacolod, Tubod, Kauswagan, Magsaysay, Maigo, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lala, Sapad and Linamon. In their performance, the participants incorporate Boogie, Cha-cha and Rumba. 1st Place went to the Municipality of Tubod, 2nd to Bacolod Municipality and 3rd Place was given to the Municipality of Kapatagan. Non-winning municipalities each received a consolation prize.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Governor Maria Cristina N. Atay and the honourable Board Members, Hon. Grecille Matalines, Hon. Marivic Ramos, Hon. Reinario Bihag and Hon. Mohammad Moamar “Jack” Maruhom was also in attendance to show support to the Senior Citizens of the province and encouraged them to stay healthy and active by participating to activities organize by their respective organizations. Board Member Maruhom appealed to the elders to never allow the move to separate the six (6) municipalities from the Province of Lanao del Norte, comparing to a mother though facing hard times never in her mind placing her child for adoption.
Governor Angging and Congressman Bobby emphasized the importance of sustaining the peace and unity between all residents of the province and the need to be aware of the consequence if such relationship is ruined by those pretentious individuals just to satisfy their personal interest. PIO-LDN
