The first ever LANORTEMAN’s Aquathlon & Duathlon was successfully held in the Province of Lanao del Norte. Athletes from nearby cities and provinces like Iligan, Ozamis, Cagayan de Oro and from Misamis Occidental and Oriental as well as from Zamboanga Peninsula converged to join the weekend multisport event.
On Saturday, October 13, participants for the Aquathlon gathered inside the Pool Area of the World Class Sports Complex of Mindanao Civic Center. Mr. Dennis Yap of the Transition Production, organizing partner of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, briefed the participants for the Swim and Run event which will take place within the sports complex.
Competitors for the Swim and Run eagerly listened to Mr. Yap as they prepare themselves for the race. Athletes started from the swimming pool then run around within the Sports Complex including the oval where the finish line is placed.
And on the following day, October 14, Athletes for Duathlon (Run-Bike-Run) started to descent early morning from Mt. Torong Torong in Tubod Municipality after a Tree planting activity. The Run Course of 5 Kilometer ends in Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center in Pigcarangan, which is also the Transition Area for the Bike.
The Bike Course of 35 Kilometer passed through Barangay Antipolo, Barangay Kalilangan, Barangay Malingao, Barangay San Antonio before heading back to the Provincial Capitol to run again for 3 Kilometer towards the Barangay Hall of Kakai Renabo and back to the Capitol for the Finish Line.
Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo, Executive Assistant to the Office of the Provincial Governor strongly promotes Sports Tourism in the province by organizing various sports activities such as Football, Basketball and Triathlon, to name a few.
Sports in Lanao del Norte is one of the key factors which promotes Unity, Friendship, Respect that contributes in attaining lasting Peace leading towards Development and Prosperity.
