The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the Tourism Operations Division under the Office of the Provincial Governor in collaboration with the national government agencies in the region- the Department of Tourism, Department of Agriculture and the Agricultural Training Institute, the Philippine Coconut Authority and, the Municipal Government of Magsaysay launched on October 3, 2018, The Provincial Coco Farm Tourist Camp with the theme, “It’s more fun in LaNorte Farms,” at Barangay Poblacion in the Municipality of Magsaysay.

Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo was happy to see the project pushed through that started as a dream. The Provincial Chief Executive acknowledged the effort of Ms. Alerma Yorong, Acting Head of Tourism Operations Division, for her dedication in making the vision of Governor Angging a reality with the help and unwavering support of Magsaysay Municipal Mayor Azisah Omar, Ms. Edelyn ‘Boling’ dela Cruz, Consultant of the Farm Tourism project in the province and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member, Honorable Abdul Harris U. Ali, Chairman Committee on Tourism.

Governor Angging also expressed gratitude to the Department of Tourism Region 10 represented by Ms. Josephine Roque, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer; Director Roxanne Hojas, Regional Technical Director of Department of Agriculture Region 10; Mr. Javier P. Andalan, Agriculturist II of the Agricultural Training Institute Region 10; and to Ms. Chyrelyn A. Pace, Officer-in-Charge from the Philippine Coconut Authority for providing the necessary assistance for the success of the project.

Farm Tourism is seen by the Governor as a potential strategy to attract tourists in the province and is now becoming popular in the country. Lanao del Norte with its vast agricultural land and the primary source of income aside from fisheries will surely encourage local and foreign tourists to come and experience the beauty and bounty as well as the hospitality and see for themselves the unity of the people. Local entrepreneurs will benefit from Farm Tourism. Employment and earnings will increase as restaurants, hotels and souvenir shops will flourish to meet the demands of the tourists.

Board Members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Honorable Mohamad Moamar ‘Jack’ S. Maruhom, Honorable Reinario B. Bihag and Honorable Marivic R. Ramos joined the activity to show support and solidarity to the programs, projects and activities of Governor Angging.

Magsaysay Municipality is the pilot municipality chosen by Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo as the perfect area for its vast coconut plantation which celebrates Niyogan Festival every May 23, to officially commence Farm Tourism in the Province of Lanao del Norte, “The Land of Beauty and Bounty.” PIO-LDN
