The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through proactive leadership of Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo initiates programs and activities that increase public awareness about Rabies prevention and eradication. With this, the Provincial Veterinary Office, one of the leading offices of the provincial government, sincerely disseminates vital information to the public through massive educational campaign.

One of the programs of PVO is the Poster Making Contest. On October 2, 2018, with the help of the Office of Schools Division Superintendent-Division of Lanao del Norte, Department of Education, Ten (10) students from Elementary and Ten (10) from High School where carefully selected to participate in this competition held at the Grand Stand of Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex, Sagadan, Municipality of Tubod.

Each of these young artists was given a 1/4 size illustration board to illustrate, interpret and emphasize the theme of the 2018 World Rabies Day Celebration (September 28) – “Rabies: Share the Message, Save a Life.”

Provincial Veterinary Office head, Dr. Fritzie Provido expressed gratitude to the contestants, to their coaches, the Schools they are representing, as well as to Mr. Robin L. Tabar, Education Program Supervisor, Division Office, for the positive turn-out of participants who have come to share their talents and enthusiasm, and making the activity successful.

After two (2) hours of illustrating their vision and interpretation of the theme, three (3) winners from the Elementary level and three (3) from the Secondary level emerges as the art pieces which the Judges think best conveys the message.

For the Elementary level, Third (3rd) Place went to Kyle R. Resurrecion of Dalama Central School which was coached by Ms. Cheryl C. Taruc; Second (2nd) Place was named to Audry Anikka C. Estrellada and Coach Mr. Ryan M. Naong of Kapatagan East Central School; First (1st) Place was awarded to Kristoffe Jay P. Salvaga and Coach Ms. Janeth J. Aba representing Tubod Central Elementary School.

While for the Secondary level, Kapatagan National High School represented by Jade Catipay and Coach Jason Bernardo received the Third (3rd) Place; Second (2nd) Place went to Justine S. Eslit and Coach Jenie Mae E. Bolo from Lala Proper Integrated School and, the First (1st) Place was handed to Xyzerl O. Navarette and Coach Leoniza D. Lumaya of Salvador National High School, which garnered a total score of 100%.

Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo, Executive Assistant to the Office of the Provincial Governor, visited the venue and was amazed of how artistic the students are in transforming into art the students’ interpretation of the theme. Ms. Aminah even took photos of the drawings as souvenir.
