The Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Norte staged a “Provincial Non-Communicable Diseases Program” on September 7, 2018 at Mindanao Civic Center Hotel Conference Hall, Sagadan, Municipality of Tubod.

According to the Department of Health, experts from the United Nations (UN) claimed that one of three Filipinos dies before the age of 70 from a Non-Communicable Disease (NCD).

NCDs are divided into four categories: Cardiovascular Diseases, Diabetes, Cancer and Chronic Respiratory Diseases. Heart Disease and Cancer are the main causes of death in the Philippines, to which majority are linked to lifestyle factors.

Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Melania A. Untao thanked the Municipal Health Officers for answering the call to participate in the program which includes Consultative Meeting, Report Consolidation and Activity Workshop with Program Implementation Review.

The Health Offices of the municipalities are partners of the Provincial Government in disseminating essential information and awareness in preventing such diseases and encouraging residents to practice healthy lifestyle for the family’s welfare and in protecting the social fabric and economic development of the province and the country in general.
