The Provincial Health Office concluded the “3 Day Water Sanitation and Hygiene in Emergencies Training” to Rural Health Unit Officers, Rural Sanitary Inspectors and Barangay Health Workers from different municipalities of the province on September 6, 2018 at A&A Parklane Function Hall, Poblacion, Municipality of Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

The training aims to provide adequate information regarding Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) to community based health personnel in the province and preparing participants to manage the internally displaced persons during emergency situation particularly in evacuation centers and those who are home based when an unfortunate event or disaster occurs in their respective area. Moreover, the training also handed relevant knowledge to participants on how to convey messages and ways to implement health programs like the Zero Open Defecation of the Department of Health to the residents.

A total of 25 participants composing the 1st Batch received their Certificate of Attendance for successfully completed the three-day training facilitated by Engr. George Demavivas, Elvin Pomicpic, Marivic Ditanongun and Roger Castillano of the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Melania A. Untao.

Dr. Untao emphasized the importance of cooperation, coordination and collaboration between all concern stakeholders from the national government, provincial, municipal down to the barangays including private sectors, non-governmental organizations and peoples’ organizations.

“This training was made possible through the unwavering support of Governor Angging, in her longing to make us ready to respond efficiently and effectively when manmade disaster or natural calamities takes place in our province. We have learned our lesson during Typhoon Vinta. This is also the reason Governor Angging have supported all our programs to disseminate significant and valuable information and knowledge that could help protect the people and prevent outbreak of diseases here in our province,” Dr. Untao said.

The 2nd and 3rd Batch of trainees for 2018 is scheduled on October 24 to 26 and 29 to 31, respectively. PIO-LDN
