The 2nd Drum & Lyre Corps Competition commenced the day’s activity where 8 Senior High School and 9 Elementary Schools of Lanao del Norte have joined to participate in the province’ grandest competition by showing precision, discipline and harmony with the tempo as they execute their routine in front of the judges and the cheering crowd at the Grandstand of Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex, Sagadan, Municipality of Tubod on July 3, 2018.
Geronimo Cabrera National High School of Kolambugan Municipality captivates the senses of the crowd as well as the audience that made them Champions for the Senior High School category, followed by Lala National High School of Maranding, Municipality of Lala. Then Kapatagan National High School was declared 2nd Runner-up.
For the Elementary category, Pigcarangan Elementary School of Tubod Municipality bagged the highest position, 1st Runner-up goes to Maranding Central Elementary School, while Tubod Central Elementary School took the 2nd Runner-up.
Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo was so proud to see the students of the participating schools in spite of the sun’s heat have seamlessly executed an extraordinary performance. The Provincial Chief Executive was also amazed of the great number of audience in the grandstand uplifting the morale of their School’s representatives.
This year’s competition is more intense and tougher than the previous year as Schools that are well known to excel in the Drum & Lyre contest here and outside the province have registered to participate and compete to be named the best marching ensemble in the 59th Araw ng Lanao del Norte.
Pigcarangan Elementary School has won the 2017 Drum & Lyre Competition in September during the City fiesta celebration of Iligan City, and also the defending Champion of the 58th Araw ng Lanao del Norte. PES is hoping that they will get the same title next year as the pressure is weighing on them to claim the grand slam title in the 60th founding anniversary of the province. PIO-LDN
