Three young and active legislators of the House of Representatives were guest of honours during the commemoration of the 59th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Lanao del Norte. Congressman Zajid ‘Dong’ Mangudadatu, 2nd District Representative of Maguindanao joins the Sagayan Festival on People’s Day & Tourism Day celebration, July 3. Sagayan is Lanao del Norte’s official festival through Resolution No. 140, Series of 1994.
Sagayan is a war dance both performed by Maguindanao and Maranao people depicting in theatrical manner the steps of Prince Bantugan, in which the performers are wearing armaments and carrying double-bladed sword and shield with shell noisemakers dramatically portraying the number of battles fought by the prince.
Congressman Dong was warmly received by the constituents of Lanao del Norte. At the press conference, he expressed his aspiration to be an instrument in changing the negative perception of Muslims and Indigenous People (Lumads) to attain lasting peace and progress in Mindanao and in the country.
Bridging the gap between Muslims, Christians and Lumads is his top most priority. The aspiring Senator believes that it can be achieve by involving the communities and listening to the voice of the people before initiating government programs to genuinely serve the citizens regardless of ethnicity, religious beliefs and culture.
And on the day of culmination, July 4, Congressman Karlo Alexie Bendigo Nograles, Representative of 1st Congressional District of Davao City and PBA (Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta) Party List Representative, Congressman Mark Aeron H. Sambar have come to join and personally wished the people of Lanao del Norte for a prosperous year ahead.
Both Congressmen pledged support to the programs and projects of fellow Representatives, Lanao del Norte 1st District Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo and 2nd District Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo and to Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo.
One of the projects that Congressman Nograles is eyeing to support is to have a Regional Hospital that will cater to the medical needs of the people of the Province of Lanao del Norte. PIO-LDN
