In kicking off the celebration of the 59th Araw ng Lanao del Norte various activities have been prepared by the Provincial Government. And on its first day, it began early morning of June 30, 2018, where hundreds of employees from 39 Offices registered to join the Unity Run along with the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines starting at the oval of Mindanao Civic Center Sport Complex.

Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo and 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo leads the activity by formally opening the day’s program with a message thanking the provincial employees as well as the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Army in supporting the activity of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte.

Governor Angging also recognized the new Manager of Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex, Lyndon G. Calica for a job well done in its operation in restoring the beauty and maintaining the cleanliness and orderly of the complex.

Right after the Unity Run, the first day of the Invitational Football Festival for the category of 15, 12 and 10 years under immediately began where 48 teams from Lanao del Norte, Iligan, Clarin, Tangub, Plaridel, Cagayan de Oro and even as far as Bukidnon, Gingoog and Butuan are vying for the title as champions of this football festival.

And in the afternoon around 5:00 PM, the Provincial Chief Executive officially started the Supercross (Flat track) by thanking the organizer of the event and the major sponsors. More than 300 hundred racers gathered at the race track waiting for their turn. The categories for the Supercross are-Underbone Stock, Inter Open, 85CC, Power Enduro, Underbone Open, Veteran’s Open, 65CC Novice Open, Ladies, Executive 40 Up, Expert Open, also added in the event is the Buggy Car racing, ingeniously and distinctly made in Cebu City.

Racing Team of Tri-SND Barracuda represented the Province of Lanao del Norte and racers from Iloilo, Cebu, Tawi-Tawi, Zamboanga, Ipil, Pagadian, Dipolog, Ozamis, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Maguindanao, Cotabato, General Santos, Jose Abad Santos-Davao Occidental, Davao, Digos, Tagum, Bukidnon, Dumaguete, Palawan and Manila have come to join the competition.
