Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Member, Honorable Renario B. Bihag, Chairperson Committee on Cooperatives, and the Officials of Micro-Cooperatives in Lanao del Norte signed a Memorandum of Agreement for financial assistance worth P100,000 to each of the 16 Micro Cooperatives.

The financial aid comes from the Provincial Government through the Cooperative Livelihood Assistance Program (CLAP) of the Provincial Cooperative Office. The signing of MOA was done in Macapagal Training Center, Pigcarangan, Municipality of Tubod on May 29, 2018.

The objective of the CLAP is to enhance the viability of the cooperatives and ensure that the spirit of cooperativism is mainstreamed to the cooperative sector in consonance with the inclusive growth plan of the province. CLAP aims to provide financial assistance to primary coops, to enhance productivity and increase income of members, provide technical assistance for coop development, promote coop participation in local governance and promote thrift value and increase savings mobilization.

Board Member Bihag is thankful to Governor Angging for her support and trust in the Cooperative sector. In his words, “Governor Angging is sincere in recognizing the sentiments, and the needs of our people especially in the Cooperative sector, with this, it is proper to express our thanks to her.”

In her speech, the Provincial Chief Executive brought inspiration to the newly established cooperatives and challenged them to invest the money wisely that will help improve their cooperatives. In addition, Governor Angging reminded the members that the money they have received comes from the people’s tax and advised them to always be in touch with the Provincial Cooperative Office for more programs or activities that will help strengthen the growth of their cooperative.

In response to the support extended by the Provincial Government, Hermelindo Aguaviva from the SIGAPOD Samahang Nayon Cooperative, spoke in behalf of the 16 Micro-Cooperatives and uttered his sincerest gratitude to Governor Angging and to the Provincial Cooperative Office, and promised that the funds they received will be used to finance activities that will help improve operation of their cooperative and properly implement the Cooperative Poverty Alleviation program.

Governor Angging and two District Representatives, 1st District Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo and 2nd District Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo proactively supports the initiatives of the Cooperative Sector and recognize its economic potential for the development of the Province of Lanao del Norte, “The Land Of Beauty and Bounty.” PIO-LDN
