The 9th Governor’s Cup Lawn Tennis Tournament kicked-off on May 5, 2018. The Opening ceremony was held at the Tennis Court of Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center in Pigcarangan, Municipality of Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Provincial Sports Coordinator, Nelson Lasola encouraged all participants from different municipalities to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship within and abide the rules of the game including the defaulting time of 15 minutes as stated in the By-Laws of the game.

An avid supporter of the sport, Vice-Governor Maria Cristina N. Atay on behalf of Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo thanked the municipalities for participating in this annual tennis tournament. According to the Vice Governor, her family through the sport of tennis met different kinds of people that eventually influence their lives either personal or business. Tennis has also strengthened the relationship between the municipalities and reinforces the peace and order of the province.

Vice Governor Atay added that by playing tennis it is not only for exercise or relieving stress, or producing quality players, the sport also keeps our feet on the ground, it reminds each one that we are all equal. It is also the venue that promotes respect and appreciation towards other people’s views and principles.

Before ending her message, Vice Governor Atay extends her appreciation to Governor Angging for the continuous support extended to the sport of tennis and to Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza Dimaporo in her active effort in promoting sports in the Province of Lanao del Norte.

The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the leadership of Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo with the support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan continue to organized sporting events that will strengthen the camaraderie of local government officials and the residents of the province.
