The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte and the Office of 2nd Congressional District in partnership with SM Foundation, Inc. and HARBEST Agribusiness Corp. initiated the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmers Training for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Marawi City currently taking shelter in Barangay Nangka Tent City in the Municipality of Balo-i. 221 IDPs have passed the farmer’s training that began last year of October 30 and formally ends on February 6, 2018. This is an intervention program to help IDPs prepare for livelihood before returning to the city and continue their peaceful lives.

Lanao del Norte Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo and 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo graced the commencement ceremony and personally congratulated the graduates before handing their certificates as testament that they have gained sufficient knowledge, techniques and skills needed in farming. Congressman Bobby offered his agricultural farm land in the municipality to be the site of the training.

Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo expressed her gratitude to SM Foundation for bringing the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Program in Lanao del Norte. This the second batch of the farmers training since its inception in Tubod, MCC Garden last year, “Ako’y nagpapasalamat talaga that SM Foundation brought this program in Lanao del Norte this is the second, nakikita ko sa facebook what they have learned when they post their pictures, there are farmers already supplying restaurants and even as far as Ozamis.”

The father of the province Congressman Abdullah ‘Bobby’ Dimakuta Dimaporo advocating peace and order has shared to the IDPs his message about the unity of the Muslims and Christians in Lanao del Norte “Dito sa Lanao del Norte nagkakaisa ang mga muslim at kristiyano hindi sa ang mga muslim magiging kristiyano o ang kristiyano magiging muslim kundi nang matututunan nila ang religion ng bawat isa tapos tanggapin at respetohin at ng sila ay magkatulungan.”

The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, the 1st and 2nd Congressional Districts continue to find ways in creating livelihood programs to the constituents of Lanao del Norte and for those IDPs taking refuge in the province who are victims of the Marawi Crisis by partnering with various National Government Agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations.
