The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte organized the Provincial Inter-Agency Committee Meeting for the year 2018 at Macapagal Training Center on January 29, The activity discussed on the updates of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s), Kalahi CIDSS Projects and Sustainable Livelihood Programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in partnership with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office which serves as the Secretariat of the projects and programs.
Ms. Anabelle S. Mendez, PSWDO Head, led the meeting together with the offices of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of the Interior and Local Government and Department of Education with its respective representatives, Zharae Tabacon for PMEO-LDN 2, Mr. Abdullah M. Alip representing Provincial Director Bruce Colao and Ms. Jennifer Intong on behalf of Roy Angelo Gazo, Schools Division Superintendent.
The first order of business presented the updates and concerns of 4Ps for the whole country that is expected to receive P89 Billion. P19 Billion from the P137 Billion of the proposed 2018 national budget will be allocated for the monthly pension of poor senior citizens. This will be a great relief for the poor families that may be affected in the implementation of the recent tax reform according to Ms. Delmerah C. Unos, SWO Provincial Link LDN-4Ps.
The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) has P7 Billion allocated budget and from it the beneficiaries will be given the option to take either the Micro-Enterprise Development Track or the Employment Facilitation Track after participation in social preparation and capacity-building activities. The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Marawi will benefit from SLP for they will be included in the Cash-for-Work (CFW) program. This is an intervention implemented by DSWD to provide temporary employment for IDPs by encouraging them to participate in preparedness, mitigation, relief, rehabilitation or risk reduction projects and other significant activities in their communities or in evacuation centers, Mr. Zharae Tabacon said.
Engr. Ruben Fortim from the Kalahi-CIDSS explained that P5 Billion has been set aside for the Community-Driven Development Programs. The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte will help in monitoring the infrastructural projects and assist in initiating workshops and trainings as well as contribute financial support to hasten the developmental projects and programs in the communities.
