The offices of the 1st District Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo and 2nd District Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo of Lanao del Norte in partnership with the Provincial Department of Labor and Employment initiated an orientation for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced or TUPAD workers in Mindanao Civic Center Grandstand on June 29, 2017. TUPAD is one of the solutions considered by our ever mindful, ever serving leaders to help eradicate or ease poverty in the Province of Lanao del Norte.

Both Congressional District offices are willing to provide assistance for the meantime to those individuals who have been displaced from their previous job. The Provincial Governor’s Office – Community Affairs Division carefully selected those individuals who are unemployed or under-employed, those who were laid-off or terminated as a result of permanent closure of an establishment and specially those self-employed who lost their livelihood because of man-made disasters having only a daily income of P300.00 below.

In this program, in every household there is only one who can avail. This selected individual will only work for 30 days so others will be given the same opportunity. Working shirts will be provided and these workers will only be given simple tasks like street sweeping, gardening and they will not be allowed to work in hazardous environment.

Mr. Remegio S. Cabañog Provincial Head of Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE) stated in the orientation that this livelihood project spans for 30 days and that the participants will be paid P303.00 per day which amounts to P9,090 at the end of their working period. If circumstance requires the worker who have been absent can still cover up the lost time even after the 30 days period just to complete the exact number of days required Mr. Cabañog added.

2nd District Congressman Abdullah Dimakuta Dimaporo encouraged all participants to organize themselves and establish a cooperative and through it they can open a small business like Sari-Sari Stores. The good Congressman also shared to the participants the importance of a single peso spent here in the province for that peso could grow and would eventually increase the productivity of Lanao del Norte.

Congressman Abdullah, Provincial Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo and 1st District Representative, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza-Dimaporo are continuously working together to provide assistance to those who are in need to ease the financial burdens to families living below the poverty line. The Provincial leaders have already established programs that help alleviate the lives of the people of Lanao del Norte. One of the sustainable programs formulated by our leaders is the Special Training for Employment Program. The heart of the program (STEP) is to promote employment and to address the specific needs of the community specifically in the ways of entrepreneurship, self-employment and service oriented activities in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Mindanao State University-Maigo School of Arts & Trades (MSU-MSAT).
