Provincial government distributes rice to former illegal fishermen

Tubod, Lanao del Norte – The provincial government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN) thru its Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) distributed sacks of rice to more than 600 families who were formerly engaged in illegal fishing along the coastal communities of this province.

 
Each recipient-family received four sacks of rice totaling to 200 kilos.  This food assistance is expected to support the identified families for four months in their daily food consumption.
 
“These families are receiving assistance from government because they complied with the requirements set by DA and the LGU. One of these is the voluntary dismantling of their illegal fishing structures particularly sanggab”, explained PSWDO personnel Aiman Mamintal.
 
Among the coastal barangays that already received the rice assistance were Barangays Tabigue, Simbuco and Mukas of Kolambugan, Brgy. Raw-an Point in Baroy, and Brgy. Tanguigueron in Tubod town.
 
“Mapasalamaton mi kay Gobernor Khalid (Dimaporo) para sa bugas nga among nadawat. Dako ni nga tabang labina kay nangita pami ug lain nga panginabuhian para makasuporta sa among pamilya”, expressed mother-of-seven Esterlita Caballero of Brgy. Tabigue, Kolambugan town.
 
The distribution of rice in other coastal barangays of the province will continue to be implemented until all affected communities are given their food assistance. LAR/PIO-LDN
