Balo-i, Lanao del Norte – The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte stands with the people of Marawi City. Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo and Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza-Dimaporo, Executive Assistant of the Office of the Provincial Governor personally supervised the distribution of relief goods to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) inside Gomanpong D. Ali Cultural Center, used as one of the 7 evacuation center in the Municipality of Balo-i. The Governor witnessed the living condition of the IDPs inside the center where she directly called on the Head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Ms. Annabelle Mendez to install tables indoors to cater to the needs of these displaced individuals.
PSWDO and members of Provincial Governor’s Office-Community Affairs Division (PGO-CAD) immediately set up tables and begun taking the yellow DSWD card from the IDPs and marked them with signatures of the agents to make sure that they have gone through the process for the purpose of equal distribution of relief goods. Inside each pack of relief goods includes kilos of rice, variety of canned goods and instant noodles, and at the same time Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo sincerely talked to the mothers inside the center and listened to their sentiments regarding the experience they have gone through and the current situation they are into. Mothers who were nurturing their babies received diapers from the Governor and the children were given biscuits which they happily took. Rita D. Baro an IDP said she is very thankful that the gesture of the Governor of Lanao del Norte who personally came to see the situation and took time to listen to them is very heart warming even though they are from Lanao del Sur.
738 households of IDPs received assistance from the people of the Province of Lanao del Norte, represented by Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo.
Municipal Information Officer of Balo-i, Muhaimmin Rasol is grateful to the Provincial Government for the support provided to these displaced people. “We are really in need of help right now, the municipal fund can no longer sustain the massive influx of IDPs in Balo-i”, said Muhaimmin.
The Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Norte provided free clinic and free medicines to all IDPs giving priorities to children and senior citizens; cough syrups for children, paracetamol, vitamins, medicines to treat high blood pressure, and other medicines necessary in the evacuation center. Hygiene kits, plastic wares and containers for storage of clean water were also provided.
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte will continue its medical and relief mission throughout the province where IDPs are located. PIO-LDN
