The Nutriskwela Community Radio Network Program of the National Nutrition Council was conceived of a need for a long-term and cost-efficient strategy to address the problem of hunger and malnutrition in the Philippines through the use of radio, the most available form of mass media.
The National Nutrition Council created 35 radio stations all throughout the country during the years 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2015. Of the 35 Radyo Kalambuan DXNE 94.3 is one of the prominent stations to spread awareness here in Tubod Lanao del Norte, it broadcasts the National Nutrition Council’s goal to promote healthy living and eradicate malnutrition.
The DXNE 94.3 celebrated its 4th anniversary last February 21, 2017 the event began at the Provincial Capitol. Station Manager Lyndon G. Calica headed the celebration along with the Provincial Health Office, Live Fit (NGO), Philippine Medical Assiciation, Community Radio Council and National Nutrition Council.
Dr. Melania Untao’s emotional speech on her crusade against malnutrition moved the provincial employees into an applause that made them realize and value their health as working in a government office takes a toll on a human body.
Ms. Greta Tullen a nurse from Texas, USA shared her expertise and experience during her speech and clarified that being obese and underweight is a sign of malnutrition and should not be set aside for prevention is better than cure and it’s cheaper.
It was also in line with the opening and ribbon cutting of the new clinic at the 3rd floor of the capitol building. It was opened by Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo and Board Member Harris Umpa-Ali.
DXNE 94.3 team along with other organizations went on a motorcade in Tubod area; they also conducted a medical mission and a feeding program in Lower Sagadan with at least a hundred constituents who benefited medicines and vitamins. PIO-LDN
