The Bureau of Fire Protection in the Province of Lanao del Norte organized a Fire Olympics for Barangay Category. The Bureau is in charge of management, administration, and implementation of fire and emergency services all over the country; as part of its mandate the bureau is tasked to organize fire fighting activities such as this Fire Olympics. Through this it help enhance the skills of all fire volunteers in each barangay, upholding the highest standard of the bureau in responding to natural or manmade calamities, and to keep in mind the priorities by continuously practicing the necessary methods for the safety of the fire volunteers.
9 fire barangay volunteers from different municipalities of the province and one from Iligan participated in the two fire fighting challenges prepared by the BFP; the Bucket Relay and the Combat Challenge-Hose Connection. The Adventist Medical Center Fire Brigade representing Barangay San Miguel of Iligan won the Bucket Relay and the winner for the Combat Challenge is the fire volunteers of Barangay Cayontor from the Municipality of Kauswagan. The Overall champion is the same team from Kauswagan (Cayontor Fire Volunteers) trailed by the team from Iligan (AMC-Fire Brigade) and the Poblacion Kapatagan Fire Volunteers grabbed the 2nd Runner-up.
Before the activity began, Combat Marshal Senior Fire Officer 2 Ronel O. Paño reminds the volunteers that safety is the utmost priority when responding to any calamities. Fire Chief Inspector Rexcliburn L. Salvaña agrees with Paño and added that responders should keep in mind that this is a team effort; one should not be complacent especially in handling the active hose. Back-up volunteers must not take any scenario lightly for the nozzle man needs all the necessary strength to point the hose directly into the fire.
The Fire Olympics aside from being a competition it also reinforces the camaraderie of the fire volunteers who have the same motto of “Save Lives and Properties”. This is what drives these brave men to work hard and aspire for the best in serving the people. The regular occurrence of Fire Olympics in Lanao del Norte paves the way for the proper coordination of all fire volunteers from the province and surrounding areas in answering the call of their sworn duties.
The teams who have participated in the event: Sultan Naga Dimaporo Volunteer Fire Fighters; Adventist Medical Center Fire Brigade of Barangay San Miguel, Iligan City; Balagatasa Volunteer Fire Brigade of Maigo, Team Lagablab of Barangay Malingao, Tubod; Poblacion Fire Birgade-KRU of Kolambugan; Baroy Volunteer Fire Brigade; Barangay Maranding Volunteer Fire Brigade of Lala; Poblacion Kapatagan Volunteer Fire Brigade; Bacolod Fire Volunteers, and Barangay Cayontor Fire Volunteers of Kauswagan.
According to Roy Secuya of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council of Lanao del Norte, this activity readies the local government units starting from the barangay up to the provincial government in reacting to any situation that could threaten the lives of the people and their properties in coordination with other stakeholders. This event was held in Agora complex fronting the Mindanao Civic Center in the Municipality of Tubod on July 20, 2017. PIO-LDN
DXNE 94.3 Radyo Kalamboan and Little Seeds Christian School come together to celebrate Nutrition Day last July 17 at United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) in the Municipality of Tubod, Lanao del Norte. The theme of the celebration is “Healthy Diet Gawing Habit for Life” which promotes healthy and nutritious foods to individuals particularly to children for attaining maximum brain power performance and increase body stamina for day to day activities. Food is essential for our body to function. It gives us the energy and nutrients to grow and develop, be healthy and active, to move, work, play, think and learn.
There are five nutrients that the body exactly needs; these are protein, carbohydrate, fat, vitamins and minerals. All of these can be found mostly in the food we eat. Protein is needed for development and repair of the muscle, skin, blood and bones, and other tissues and organs of the body. Carbohydrate provides the main source of energy. There are two types of Carbohydrates; starches and sugars. Foods that are abundant in starch are rice, maize, wheat and potatoes while fruits, honey, sweets and chocolate bars are rich in sugar. Fat is the secondary source of the body’s energy. It actually provides more energy per calorie than any other nutrient but the downside of it is the difficulty of burning them. Oils, cheese, butter, lard, milk and some meat are rich in fat. Vitamins and minerals are sometimes called micronutrients; they are just needed in small amounts but are essential for good health.
A balance diet means consuming these nutrients in correct quantities. There are several effects when not eating the exact amount; if eating less protein it affects the person’s growth, if eating food with not enough energy (eg. carbohydrates or fat) the person will tire easily, and if consuming food with too much energy there is a tendency that the person will become overweight.
The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte and the two Congressional Districts of the province has long been supportive of this program, promoting healthy lifestyle and nutritious foods for the residents of the province. During the celebration of the 58th Araw ng Lanao del Norte, Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo formulated the slogan: “Lanao del Norte: Hulagway sa Himsug nga Katawhan og Malinawong Katilingban”.
DXNE Radyo Kalambuan as a community radio station owned and operated by the National Nutrition Council it leads in the awareness campaign in disseminating information the importance of good nutrition in the province of Lanao del Norte and surrounding areas.
The program started when Rev. Rosa L. Podiotan graced the occasion with a prayer followed by the national anthem. School Administrator Encarnacion J. Ansing welcomed all participants. Students of Little Seeds Christian School performed the Preschool GO, GROW and GLOW, children learn about healthy eating, exercising and the importance of hand washing. Grains are GO foods, they help you run, jump and play all day; Fruits and Vegetables are GLOW foods, they help you have shiny hair and sparkly eyes; Dairy and Protein are GROW foods, they help you grow big and strong. Domingo Sacute of DXNE shared an inspiring message and how the radio station informs the people the importance of healthy diet.
To make the celebration more interesting and joyful, parents joined their children by playing various games such as trip to Jerusalem, paper dance, egg catching, lemon relay, samson and delilah, sack race, and tomato dance. The chosen board of judges were Domingo Sacute, Ryan Requino, Leonora L. Boa, Jonah N. Lumbatan and Genniver J. Ansing. PIO-LDN
In lined with the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte’s drive of Bringing the Government Closer to the People, Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo started visiting the barangays in the province to see and talk to the people in regards to the current situation and the future development plans of the provincial government in partnership with the local chief executives of every municipality. On Tuesday (July 18), the Governor kicked off the program in the Municipality of Lala where four barangays of which the Governor have not visited during the election campaign last year. Governor Angging humbly thanked the Barangay Chairmen of Raw-an, Captain Nesias Malazarte; Captain Alfredo Diaz Ecat of Brgy. Gumagamot; Captain Noel delos Reyes of Brgy. Magpatao, and Brgy. Captain Godofredo Pahayahay of Tunaan and especially to its constituents for entrusting the Team Quibranza-Dimaporo to continue serving the people of Lanao del Norte.
Governor Angging grew up in the municipality of Tubod, she knows what the people feels; being the daughter of one of the most influential politicians in the region she sees how dedicated the late Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza is in serving the people of Lanao del Norte. Governor Angging then decided to be the voice of the people and continue the legacy of her father as public servant. In addition, the unification of the two great political families in the region made Lanao del Norte one of the most progressive and developed province in the entire country.
“Ang mga katawhan kahibalo kong kinsa ilang lederis nga ilang kasaligan nga wala nagpa-sagad kanila, (the people knows who are their leaders whom they trusted and have not ignored them) said Governor Angging. The overwhelming reception that the Governor received from the people of these four barangay is an indication that the Team Quibranza-Dimaporo is so loved and trusted by the constituents of the peaceful province of Lanao del Norte.
Vice Mayor Almario Guzman joined the program of Governor Angging on behalf of Mayor Allan Lim (in Manila for official business) to express their support to the Provincial Chief Executive in bringing numerous projects in the Municipality of Lala. The Governor also encouraged all women in the barangay and in the whole province to organize themselves and form cooperatives for sustainable livelihood. The Provincial Cooperative Office is ready and willing to assist any group who would like to establish a cooperative and re-accredit those who are inactive.
The people is happy to hear straight from the mother of the province that Lanao del Norte remains peaceful despite of the crisis in Marawi and in some parts of Lanao del Sur. Governor Angging was proud to say that the Mayors of the interior municipalities of Lanao del Norte bordering Lanao del Sur have never left their area since the conflict began. The Mayors assured the Governor that they will guard and protect their area together with the Armed Forces and the Police from local terrorist groups or rebels in disturbing the peace and harmony that the residents of the province have enjoyed and kept for years.
These interior municipalities served as the buffer zone for Lanao del Norte. Governor Angging will never allow these terrorists and rebels to thrive in the province, in her strong words “Over my dead body!” The stakeholders of this province have worked hard to achieve and maintain the harmony and unity of the citizens of this humble province. Muslims and Christians have live side by side for years defending each other from any threats that could ruin the strong relationship of the two peaceful religions.
Furthermore, Governor Angging told the public that it is the people’s choice to make President Duterte where he is now. No group could claim that they are behind the victory of President Duterte for it is the will of the people of this sovereign state who clamoured for a new and strong leader to lead the country forward.
Governor Angging will continue to visit the barangays through the coordination of the Provincial Community Affairs Division and the Barangay Chairmen to personally express her appreciation to all the peace loving residents of Lanao del Norte, “The Land of Beauty and Bounty”. PIO-LDN
Monday, July 17- The Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Melania A. Untao led the flag raising ceremony at Governor Arsenio A. Quibranza Provincial Government Center. Dr. Untao presented in front the men and women working tirelessly behind all the programs of the Provincial Health Office or PHO.
The Mandate of the PHO as per Executive Order 851 issued on December 2, 1982, the Provincial Health Office shall be responsible for the complete integration of the promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative components of health care delivery within the province. The Provincial Health Office shall exercise supervision and control over the district hospitals and other field health units of the province.
Dr. Untao made mention of the general function of the PHO. The Office is responsible for health policies, ordinances and programs, development and implementation, sanitary inspection, health information and education, health administration, inter-agency coordination on health policies and programs for both government offices and non-government organization and general field supervision over rural health units of the province.
The Provincial Health Office provides technical assistance to 22 municipalities of the province said Dr. Untao. Since the time these Internally Displaced Persons begun to flock-in in almost every municipality of the province due to the war in Marawi City, the Provincial Health Office in coordination with its municipal health office has continuously provide medical assistance to displaced persons especially to babies, children, elderly and persons with disabilities. Like in the Municipality of Balo-i where thousands of IDPs taking shelter either home-based or in the evacuation center, the PHO constantly monitors their health conditions and immediately treats those who are ill.
The PHO works hard by initiating programs that sustains the healthy conditions of the residents of Lanao del Norte. Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo supports all the programs of the PHO. The Especial Mass Based Program (EMBP) of Governor Angging where all front-line services are being provided to the people of the province by “Bringing the Government Closer to the People”. PHO is one of the various offices under the Provincial Government which provides basic services, such as medical and dental check-up. The PHO also partners with the Provincial Population Office (PPO) in conducting Family Planning to residents during EMBPs. Dr. Untao said, “A healthy citizenry makes a strong republic”.
Aside from partnering with the PPO, Dr. Untao also thanked the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council in working together as one in answering to calamities either man-made or natural.
Currently, the Provincial Health Office has four Divisions:
July 12 – Teachers and Residents of Barangay Licapao welcomed Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo in the hand-over ceremony of the two elementary classrooms and the newly built basketball covered court. The Licapao Angels, the children’s dance group and the Barangay Licapao Women’s Organization performed dance number inside the recently finished covered court to show their gratitude to Governor Angging for the support she has given to the people of the barangay through its council. These two projects was realised when the Governor was still the 1st District Representative of Lanao del Norte.
Governor Angging was happy to visit the place and talk to the people after a long time. When the former 1st District Representative won as the Provincial Chief Executive in last year’s election she then spent more time in her office reviewing and checking documents. The Governor is not used to sit whole day in her office for she likes to be with the people more often, good thing Ms. Sittie Aminah Quibranza-Dimaporo willingly accepted the position as Executive Secretary of the province to do all the reviewing and checking of the documents before submitting to the Governor. To be with the constituents is the best part of being a government official. It is the time where Governor Angging can talk to the people and personally hears their sentiments and longings. This is the reason why Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo is so loved by the people of the province. Governor Angging is a pro-active leader and the mother of the province, she initiates programs that will bring development and progress to the peaceful province of Lanao del Norte together with 1st District Representative, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza-Dimaporo and 2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah “Bobby” Dimakuta Dimaporo.
School In-Charge of Licapao Elementary School, Maria Gemma Maglangit is thankful to Governor Angging for the new two units of classrooms intended for Day Care and Grade Six students of Barangay Licapao. The two classrooms would help improved the learning environment conditions and boost the learning ability of students. Education is one of the many programs that the Quibranza-Dimaporo Initiative is giving importance which is included in the Inclusive Growth Plan (IGP). Improving the quality of education in the province of Lanao del Norte starts by providing students and teachers classrooms that are conducive to learning.
Barangay Captain Ambrosio J. Cabugnason expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of the people of Barangay Licapao to Governor Angging for the unwavering support extended to them. The project in Barangay Licapao is only one of the eight projects given by Governor Angging when she was then the 1st District Representative. Other barangays are San Antonio, Tubaran, Malingao, Pualas, Camp V, Bualan and Sto. Niňo.
Councilor Amay Samaniego of the Municipality of Tubod attended the occasion on behalf of Mayor Leoncio Bagol who is in Cagayan de Oro for an official meeting; Barangay Captain of Kalilangan, Jonathan Artuyo; Barangay Captain of Pinpin, Primo Capule; Barangay Captain of Malingao, Cirilo Apao and Barangay Captain of Sto. Governor Angging reminded the people and the barangay officials to be vigilant and observant at all times in their community and report any new faces present in their area to the Philippine National Police or to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, in her words: “Kamo nga naa sa mga barangay mao among gi-saligan nga mao’y mohatag ug protection sa atong pinang-gang lalawigan, kinahanglan mag bantay giud kita. Kung kana mahitabo dinhi sa atong lalawigan (simba ko lang palayo) kita mao’y makalolo-uy, mawad-an kita ug panimalay, mawad-an kita ug panginabuhi. Kinahanglan magpakabana gayud kitang katawhan kay atong ka-pulisan and atong mga militar dili kana nila ma akupar tanan kung kitang mga katawhan dili usab mo tabang kanila”.
In addition, the Governor encouraged the people to cooperate with the government in sustaining the peace and order of the province for the continuous development and progress of Lanao del Norte, “The Land of Beauty and Bounty”. PIO-LDN

Pigcarangan, Tubod, July 10 – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of the Province of Lanao del Norte invited Engr. Carmelo Enrique B. Libot, Provincial Director of DILG on Monday during its weekly session to shed light on the resolutions issued by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM). Engr. Libot clarifies that NAPOLCOM is a collegial body (means a governmental entity whose power or authority is vested within its membership) within the DILG. Engr. Libot added that he has no personal knowledge in regards to the resolutions released by NAPOLCOM in stripping the Local Executive Officials of the deputation powers over the Philippine National Police. In his words, “We were quite surprised by the passage of the resolutions in fact I only knew of the resolutions when Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo called me up in the morning of July 5 to say that there was a news report. In regards to the basis of NAPOLCOM, the DILG in the local government sector has no knowledge of the basis and there was no report coming from our level recommending that the deputation powers are cancelled”.
In this year the Province of Lanao del Norte and other local government units have been awarded with the Seal of Good Local Governance by the Department of Interior and Local Government. This is indicative that the Provincial Government and its local government units are working tirelessly to serve and protect the people of the province by sustaining the peace and order in partnership with the DILG, the PNP and the AFP.
DILG appreciates how supportive the Provincial Government is with the Police and the Military and during the Peace and Order Council meetings, we in the DILG sees how the Provincial Government is doing its part said Engr. Libot.
Director Libot also clarified to the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan that his office has not submitted any recommendation or report that would jeopardize the image of the peaceful province of Lanao del Norte.
Board Member Reinaro Bihag requested Engr. Libot to help the province clean the tainted image of Lanao del Norte which the people of the province has nurtured for years by submitting recommendation to its regional office and then to the national office.
Board Member Atty. Superman Usop said that these resolutions were made without any proper validation. Engr. Libot assures that in his capacity he will help the province by clearing the names of the Provincial Governor and the Municipal Mayors and he will recommend that these resolutions are need to be corrected when he goes to the regional office in Cagayan de Oro.
On July 6, 2017, the Local Chief Executives of the Province of Lanao del Norte held a press conference in Cagayan de Oro led by Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo to disprove the resolutions released by NAPOLCOM.
During the press conference, Governor Dimaporo personally appeals to NAPOLCOM, to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and to our beloved President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to revoke the resolutions damaging the peaceful and progressive province of Lanao del Norte. The Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte and its Local Chief Executives has always been supportive to the programs of President Duterte when in fact various anti-drug groups have been formed with the help of the Provincial and Municipal Government like the Marandinganons Ayaw sa Droga (MAD) and Camp based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CaDRE).
Stripping the Governor and the Municipal Mayors of the authority over the Philippine National Police in the province is detrimental to their personality as public servants. The grounds are baseless NAPOLCOM should have first conducted a thorough investigation in the Province of Lanao del Norte before releasing the said resolutions, the Governor said.
DILG’s Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse and Peace and Order and Public Security (PADA-POPS) regularly conducts workshop in the province which Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo strongly supports. The last workshop was held in Mindanao Civic Center-Hotel Function Hall in the first quarter of this year. In this workshop, DILG and LGU’s have agreed to protect the constituents of Lanao del Norte by coordinating with the PNP and expressed their unwavering support of the anti-drug campaign of President Duterte.
Lanao del Norte 1st District Representative, Congressman Mohamad Khalid Quibranza-Dimaporo uttered his disappointment to the resolutions released by NAPOLCOM and he appeals to the commission to correct the mistake they have done as soon as possible by removing the Province of Lanao del Norte from the list. The sensible Congressman believes that the PNP will be more effective in implementing the various programs of the national government with the help of the Local Chief Executives.
2nd District Representative, Congressman Abdullah “Bobby” Dimakuta Dimaporo calls the resolutions a discriminatory decision towards the Muslim government officials. Why other provinces or cities where drugs are proliferating and threats of terrorism are constantly felt by its residents were not included, is it because they are run by non-Muslim government officials? This is discrimination and this is not good and should be corrected immediately said Congressman Bobby.
Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo and her family for years sustained the peace and order of Lanao del Norte through unity, respect and understanding of the Muslims and Christians of the province. The Municipal Mayors and the two District Congressmen agrees with the Governor that NAPOLCOM should be held liable to correct the mistake they have incurred to Lanao del Norte and to the peace loving people of the province.
The people of the province have not expected that an agency of the national government will contribute in tarnishing the image of Lanao del Norte, “The Land of Beauty and Bounty”. PIO-LDN
